Our teacher education and literacy and learning faculty share your passion. Whether you want to start your career in education, enhance your current teaching career or want to move into teaching from a different career, our programs prepare you to make an impact in the classroom and beyond. Check into programs that focus on early childhood in literacy and learning or programs in teacher education covering through sixth grade, the middle grades (4-8), or up through grade 12.

Texas Woman’s department of human development, family studies, and counseling provides programs aimed at strengthening families. Prepare to work as a counselor, parent educator, child life specialist or marriage and family therapist; administer programs for infants/toddlers; or enter other fields aimed at enhancing the quality of life for individuals and families.

Our department of literacy and learning prepares leaders in literacy by providing study in literacy teaching and learning from preschool through adult years as well as programs focused on early childhood education. Our Reading Recovery Training Center is one of only two in the U.S. that can train trainers for other universities, and is the only Descubriendo la Lectura training center in the world.

Our School of Library and Information Studies (SLIS) offers master’s degree and certification programs that prepare professionals to work in information environments including academic, public, medical or school libraries; corporate and other special libraries; government agencies; and more.

The School of Library and Information Studies at Texas Woman's University invites applications and nominations for the position of Director. The position may begin as early as July 2023.

The Director will represent and advocate for all faculty, staff, students and programs within the school; manage departmental personnel, budget and resources; oversee program reviews; evaluate faculty and staff; oversee the course schedule, and provide leadership in the university, state, and region, thus promoting excellence in Library and Information Studies. An academic, collaborative, and transparent leadership style, active participation or leadership within discipline relevant professional associations, appreciation for a multidisciplinary environment, and a commitment to excellence in online, graduate education are essential. The Director position is a 12-month administrative appointment.

The Department of Teacher Education (DTE) in the College of Professional Education (COPE) invites applications for the position of Department Chair. The DTE faculty searches for a candidate who can balance both the leadership and administrative responsibilities required to effectively oversee the operation of the Department of Teacher Education. The Department Chair reports to the Dean of the College of Professional Education and serves as a part of the College administrative team as well as DTE’s representative to the broader University community. The position is expected to begin in August of 2023.
